The first Module of 2020 has started!
This week sees the 17th edition of Inside Pictures kick-off, and for the first time ever we are delivering online! The 20 participants, who come from 13 different countries, begin their 9-month journey on the programme which gives them access to high-powered film and TV industry executives.
Established in 2002, Inside Pictures is a truly international programme which enables professionals from a wide range of disciplines to learn from, and with each other over the course of four intensive workshops. The first two of these will be delivered via Zoom, and we’re hoping the final two workshops will happen in person. They also undertake project work as part of their training, working in pairs on 10 projects which are presented to a panel of top executives at the culmination of the programme.
This year’s participants were welcomed yesterday by Inside Pictures Ambassador 2020, Rose Garnett of BBC Films. Rose joined us on Zoom yesterday to welcome the participants ‘in person’. Rose is not only lending her expertise to the programme, but also represents the programme externally until graduation in January 2021.
Rose congratulated participants on becoming part of the Inside Pictures family and advised them to make the most of the programme – and each other. Speaking of the ever more complex global situation, she commented on Inside Pictures being vital in exploring how the business of Film & TV might develop.
The week-long module provides insights to film finance, international and domestic sales and distribution, acquisitions, co-production, the TV landscape, digital aggregation, distribution and exhibition. Speakers are delivering sessions from London, Denmark, Holland, Germany and Ireland and sessions include The Business of International Sales with Susan Wendt of Trust Nordisk, Interactive Film with John Giwa Amu of Red & Black Films, The Impact of Blockchain by Maria Tanjala of Blockchain and a Netflix presentation from Teresa Moneo & Lina Brouneus.
Speakers delivering sessions from LA include Craig Emmanuel & Susan Williams of Paul Hastings LLP, Rich Delia of Rich Delia Casting, Anne Thompson of Indiewire, Adriana Banta of 30West.
The next module will take place via Zoom in September before the programme hopes to returns to London in November.
