Inside Pictures Participants hit Hollywood hot on the heels of TIFF triumphs

A number of our 2015 participants have enjoyed huge successes at Toronto International Film Festival this year.

Ivy Vanhaecke is producer of Belgian gangster film Black, which scooped TIFF’s Discovery Award last week, earning praise for its ‘punchy, take-no-prisoners style’ (Variety). The Toronto jury said: “With this award we celebrate a clear cinematic vision, creatively and audaciously realised.”

Producer Jill Macnab’s New Zealand film Born to Dance played to an enthusiastic TIFF audience including Janet Jackson. Other Inside Pictures participants with work featured in TIFF 2015 include producer Siniša Juričić, whose feature Full Contact captured the imagination of critics, and was described as ‘fascinating’ and ‘imaginative’ by The Hollywood Reporter.

Also deserving recognition is Lenny Abrahamsons Room, which won the People’s Choice Award at TIFF. The film is a triumph for Inside Pictures’ alumni, as the film’s Head of Business Affairs Mark Byrne was a participant on the 2013 programme and worked on a pitch for the film as part of his Inside Pictures project work.

Our 2015 participants are currently in Los Angeles for Module 2 of this year’s programme. They are learning from and doing business with LA based execs working on international product, including some of the industry’s highest-level professionals.

Speakers include Anonymous Content CEO Steve Golin, who is set to receive the Industry Tribute at the 25th anniversary Independent Filmmaker Project Gotham Independent Film Awards in November, as well as the Career Achievement Award at the Zurich Film Festival this week.

We’d like to thank to all our Module 2 speakers, who offer their time and knowledge generously to the participants. A full list of speakers on the programme this year can be found on our Speakers page.
