With Honours: Class of ’17 and Alumni at TIFF

We’re pleased to announce the many current Participants and Alumni whose films are screening at TIFF this year; as well as notable accomplishments from Venice and Cannes. Congratulations to all from Inside Pictures!

THE WIFE (Dir: Björn Runge), Executive Producer, Nina Bisgaard

2017 Participants

IP Participant 2017 Nina Bisgaard is Executive Producer of THE WIFE which has its World Premiere as a Gala Presentation at TIFF. The film star Glenn Close as a woman who plans to leave her husband (Jonathan Price) the same evening he is awarded his Nobel Prize. Read More.

Kurban Kassam serves as producer on Bornila Chatterjee’s THE HUNGRY, which has its World Premiere and is a Special Presentation. The film relocates Shakespeare’s bloody tragedy Titus Andronicus to modern-day India. The film stars Tisca Chopra, Arjun Gupta and screen-legend Naseeruddin Shah. Read More.

Alexandra Hoesdorff and her production company Deal Productions helped produce South African director Jenna Bass’s feature HIGH FANTASY, in which four friends wake up to discover they’ve all swapped bodies. Read More.

Maximilian Leo, of augenshein Filmproduktionhas two films screening in the Contemporary World Cinema Competition: SAMUI SONG, directed by Pen-ek Ratanaruang; and ANA, MON AMOUR by Calin Peter Netzer, which was previously awarded the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the 2017 Berlinale.

Also screening in Venice were three features by Maximilian Leo:  INVISIBLE by Pablo Girogelli, screening In Competition; HUNTING SEASON by Natalia Garagiola screening in Critics Week; as well as SAMUI SONG.

ALUMNI

Joris van Wyk (Class of 2015) is Executive Producer of TULIPANI, LOVE, HONOUR AND A BICYCLE, a story of rediscovering your roots and righting wrongs of the past. Directed by Mike van Diem, it receives its World Premiere at TIFF. Read more.

Premiering at Venice before a Special Presentation at TIFF, as well as screening as part of LFF,  LE FIDÈLE (English title: RACER AND THE JAILBIRD) is a high-high stakes heist directed by Michaël R. Roskam and produced by Bart Van Langendonck (Class of 2014)The film stars Matthias Schoenaerts and Adèle Exarchopoulos. Read more.

In Competition at Venice and screening as a Gala Presentation at TIFF, Daniel Campos Pavoncelli (Class of 2015) acts as Executive Producer of THE LEISURE SEEKER, a bittersweet road movie starring Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren as an elderly couple navigating age and illness as they embark on one last journey together. Read More.

Leon Clarence (Class of 2011) and Laure Vaysse (Class of 2012) have produced and financed KODACHROME, which receives its World Premiere at TIFF respectively. A road movie for the digital age, the film is directed by Mark Raso and stars Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris and Elizabeth Olsen. Read More.

Also at TIFF is A CIAMBRA, co-produced by Sean Whelan (Class of 2013) of Filmgate Films. A CIAMBRA is a coming-of-age story of a boy growing up in a Romani community in Southern Italy. Directed by Jonas Carpignano, the film won the Europa Cinemas Label Award at Cannes. Read More.
